Topic: How to mute mic. Playback on speakers

Hello,

I am wondering how I can mute the mic. sound coming from my speakers, but still want my DAW to record the mic. sound. and I want to be able to keep my speakers volume up. How do I do that?

Thank you,
Greetings!

Re: How to mute mic. Playback on speakers

In Totalmix
Click onto the hardware output channel where the loudspeakers are connected.
Pull down the fader of the mic.
If the problem persists then its coming thru the DAW, you have to switch off input monitoring in the DAW track.

Monitor speakers also signal the same AN1/2 channel, when I turn the fader down on AN 1/2 on Hardware Output, it also decreases volume on the speakers with microphone. I don't see a separate channel for microphone there?

Re: How to mute mic. Playback on speakers

The mic-channel is the hardware input channel (top row faders in Totalmix)

Don't pull down faders of hardware output channel.

You have to follow exactly !

Click onto the hardware output channel where the loudspeakers are connected.
Are the speakers on AN1/2 output ?
OK, then click with the mouse cursor into the channel (on the fader or next to it)
The channel gets highlighted, you can see that ?
That's important, it means this output is now selected as active submix (receiving signals from the input channels and software playback channels)

Then watch the top row faders with the mic input signal, the fader with the mic input signal is not yet down, pull it fully down.
That's it.

Thank you, I really got it after thinking about it. You were right it was coming from the Reaper. When I shut down Reaper there was no feedback. I think I will never forget this again. Even if I did, I will find this topic I created... smile

Thank you!
Cheers, to waedi. Have a good one!
