Topic: Atmos 7.1.4 Playback using a Fireface UFX III

Hi everyone,

Very long time RME user here and I've finally upgrated my original UFX to the UFX III with Room EQ for room correction.

I can mix in Atmos in my DAW but I can't seem to get an Atmos playback going. The UFX seems to be capped at a 7.1 configuration in Windows 11 Pro. I have installed Dolby Access but I'm only getting the Dolby Atmos for Headphones option in the Spatial Sound tab. I'm assuming it's because I can't set my output device (RME UFX III) to more than 7.1.

Is there a workaround? Did I miss something? Is RME working on a new driver and firmware that could allow us set our Firefaces in 7.1.4 and above for playback in Windows?

Thank you,

I watched this video and took a Cubase Demo Project to play around

My understanding is that you have to assign your active monitors to the different outputs of the Atmos 7.1.4 renderer.
More is not to do. I could be wrong but it looks this way to me .. see screenshot.

Re: Atmos 7.1.4 Playback using a Fireface UFX III

Thank you Ramses for you share but I have no issues working in atmos in my DAW. I'm using Reaper and I can route any input to any output.

I'm talking about playback with a rendered content in players like Foobar2000 or VLC. Since I can only set the Fireface UFX III to 7.1 in Windows, I don't get anything more than 7.1 channels modulating in the software playback row of Totalmix FX.

For a number of reasons, I want to play other content than my own like Dark Side of the Moon or Peter Gabriel i/o in Atmos or even movies. They all can serve as reference I'd like to be able to playback easily.

I would also love to be able to render my own tracks in atmos and listen to them without having to open a DAW.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Ah ok, misunderstood your request. TBH I just started on this topic, but well, it was very interesting experimenting ...
Quite cool to move around Rhythm guitars in the room, make them sound bigger etc.

I found a reference to Dolby Access App in Microsoft store. Does this perhaps help?
I think it should be possible in the application to access the single channels of the RME audio interface.
Either via ASIO driver or by using WDM.

Foobar does have an ASIO plugin. Not sure if that one works with Foobar Atmos playback, though.
