Topic: ARC USB was working with new windows 10 pro install and then stopped

Really frustrating because this is the first time I've not been able to figure this out on my own. Fresh window 10 pro install, got the latest Fireface driver installed as well as the latest TMFX version. BBF ProFS and Arc USB working great. Downloaded and installed Reaper and GuitarPro and Spotify. Then changed my password to a PIN for login.

Now, the Arc USB won't initialize or work at all. None of the buttons work and the only ones illuminated are the Talkback and Speaker B buttons. I tried multiple restarts, deleted the ARC from device manager and nothing changes. The BBF ProFS works great.

Should I try an earlier version of TotalMix?

think I just figured it out but not sure I understand why! I was reading up on the new version and a post by Matthias talked about the new settings in the ARC USB tab under ARC and Key Command Settings. I changed the "Usage of PC connected ARC USB" setting from Ignore to Shared and the DIM button and all functionality returned as before. I hadn't made any changes in that settings tab before so I don't know why the ARC was working before or how the Ignore setting was selected..

I'm just glad it works now. Are there any other settings I should keep an eye on or make proactively? This ARC will see time be shared with my UCXII as well and just don't want any more surprises smile

You might check the SysEx option to avoid further incompatibilites.

not sure what the Sysex box does but I'll check it anyway if you recommend it, Matthias. Thank you!

follow up: I checked that SysEx box and the ARC stopped working again (DIM button went dark and none of the controls worked)

If the DIM button went dark, that means, there is no communication between the ARC and TM.
And it is in "Standby Mode".

Check again and make sure, ARC is set to "Shared" in TM.

From manual:

The lower three keys have a useful diagnostic functionality.
Talkback: is lit dim as soon as the ARC USB is running on 5 V USB bus power.
Speaker B: is lit dim as soon as a USB communication is possible.
DIM: is lit dim as soon as a communication with TotalMix FX is established.
Therefore in normal operation all three lower keys are lit dim constantly.

If your ARC USB is very old it might not support SysEx but need a firmware update. It should work again if you uncheck the SysEx option.
