Topic: Switching sample rate causes audio to glitch

Hello, I'm using the ADI 2 Pro FS Black Edition to produce, mix and master and I often need to switch sample rates because of the resource requirement in my Ableton projects. After switching the sample rate, playback is fine in Ableton, but all other audio sources like Spotify and YouTube begin to glitch out audio wise. I need these other audio sources for referencing. I used to be able to just close out the applications and re-open them and they'd work fine but now they are still continuing to glitch out and I have to restart my computer to get the audio to play without issue again. Any idea what the problem is? I'm on Windows 11 btw.

Re: Switching sample rate causes audio to glitch

are you using the latest RME drivers and firmware ?

Re: Switching sample rate causes audio to glitch

In case this happens again, you may be able to fix the audio issues without restarting your computer. Sometimes simply restarting the Windows audio service fixes issues like this. To do so, first open task manager (CTRL + SHIFT + ESC), then navigate to the Services tab, locate Audiosrv, and click restart. I don't think this affects ASIO connections in any way, so Ableton shouldn't need to be restarted either with this method. In case this doesn't fix the audio glitching, you might also want to try restarting your ADI-2 before resorting to restarting the computer, but in this case you'll probably need to restart Ableton along with it.

Thank you. It seems I had to do the flash update.

Re: Switching sample rate causes audio to glitch

When changing the sample rate in ASIO all WDM apps have to restart their audio. Other than in ASIO this does not happen automatically. You need to stop/start or even restart any WDM app.

Or in other words - don't let those run in the background while changing sample rates in ASIO.
