Topic: TotalMix FX and accessibility

To the Devs.

Hi folks:

Could you please add commands to the keyboard and ARC US B for assignning shortcuts for loding sub-mixes?

As it stands now, we are not able to load sub-mixes via the keyboard.

Thanks all over the place.

Re: TotalMix FX and accessibility

The ARC USB has 8 buttons on top, 2 rows of 4 buttons
Snapshots 1 to 8
Should be no problem for blind persons to press one of these buttons, right ?

Re: TotalMix FX and accessibility

You are right in saying that Blind users have no problem using either the ARC USB or the keyboard commands. However, what I am asking for is that the sub-mixs could  be assignable to shortcuts.  I suppose I could use up my ARC USB commands for loding snapshots to accomplish this but why not simply make the sub-mix switching via assignable shortcut commands.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time and trouble to answer my post.

Re: TotalMix FX and accessibility

There are five keys (F4-f8) that may be used for different TM operations. Default setting is F4 - Load Snapshot 1, F5 - Load Snapshot 2, and so on.

RME could add more Function keys and configurable. It is not much work. The most work would be updating user guide.

Re: TotalMix FX and accessibility

People should more think out of the box before posting how simple things are - they never are. In this case you need a dialog to define the submix, which requires multiple lists as most of our units have a different number of output channels - and you don't want to present the BF user 198 outputs as only found in the MADIface XT, right? Second you need to assign it to whatever key. Third it needs to be tested, as working on the code chances are near 100% something different breaks. Fourth none of this is necessary as OSC allows to directly select a submix. Special requests sometimes need special solutions...

Re: TotalMix FX and accessibility

That is misunderstanding, I meant:
1) Add at least three user assignable keys/slots to five already existing, so that user may activate any of eight snapshots using keyboard. (That is simple, at least on UI side and should not be that difficult in TM FX internals. It will not be more than 100 lines of code per key added. And changes in storing and reading configuration file.)
2) Possibly add feature that user may choose the key (instead of current F4 to F8), that activates that feature. That is more complex on UI side, but would be cool.

If 2) is too much work, or there are obstacles. Say ten assignable keys/slots could be used with fixed keys F4 to F8 and Shift/Ctrl/Alt (one of them) and F4 to F8. On Win it would be easy, I do not know about Mac.
