Topic: Beginner question on powered external speakers (Solved)

Hi, I have an ADI 2 Pro fw 1.04

Currently I listen with balanced headphones, but I would like to connect a pair of amplified mini monitors (Roland ma 150U)(https://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/g142729161/)

Signal path:
Smartphone connected in Bluetooth (LDAC) to a Topping BC3 receiver (https://www.playstereo.com/it/dac-usb/4 … ore-silver)
BC3 connected to ADI 2 Pro via optical cable
I inserted two 6.3 to RCA adapters in the back of the ADI 2 Pro.
I then connected the Rolands via RCA cable.

I am lost in the I/O menus of the ADI 2 Pro
What output parameters should I select in the I/O menu to send the signal to the rear output?
Thank you

I do not have a remote (first gen of ADI did not have it)

If I connect speakers on the front IN (used for headphone) it works only for a few seconds,
then a warning appears (Overload/Short detected PH1/2 deactivated....ecc)

On the rear IN the signal is absent. How to fix it ?

Re: Beginner question on powered external speakers (Solved)

Do you use a Y-adapter for this ?

What connector is it ? Hopefully it is a TRS plug and not a TS.

I admit my ignorance. Are these no good?
On manual pag 62 (Italian) say mono 6.35 mm. to RCA

Thanks for the advice.

It could work, but why I don't  have any signal coming out of the rear RCA (with adapter) outputs ?
Isn't that I am missing some menu settings to send the signal to the rear inputs?

Re: Beginner question on powered external speakers (Solved)

Just a hint:
Have you disconnected the headphone?
By default the rear outputs will be muted if headphones are connected.

It is possible to disable this behaviour but I wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you are doing.

You are writing about "inputs".
You have to use the connectors labled "Main Outputs 1/2".

Sorry, if these remarks are obvious. Just in case. :-)

Yes, you are right. :-)

Just yesterday evening I realized reading deeper the manual and this morning it has worked before reading your post.

But I did not know that it would be possible avoid to disconnect headphones (if I have well understood your statement)

Could you explain me the risk to avoid the headphones disconnection ?

Many thanks

Re: Beginner question on powered external speakers (Solved)

If you deactivate automatic muting, you must be very careful with the volume control so as not to damage your hearing or your speakers. The recommended procedure is to lower the volume each time you switch from headphones to speakers and vice versa.
Please be very careful!

Re: Beginner question on powered external speakers (Solved)

To me it looks like this thread has gone into a wrong direction already with the second post.

To the OP:

- Connect your balanced headphone to the front outputs 1/2 and 3/4 as you did before. Settings: Dual Headphones On, Balanced Phones Mode to Auto

- Connect the amp to the rear outputs as you had planned.

- Now activate Toggle Ph/Line (below Balanced Phones Mode Auto) and set it to 3/4.

Result: by pressing the big VOLUME knob for 2 seconds you switch between Phones and Amp, with both outputs keeping their own EQ and volume settings.

- Finally download the ADI-2 Remote so you find the stuff that you missed in manual and display menu.
