Topic: Analog Input noise level in DSD Recording Mode

Hi, I've just become an owner of a RME ADI-2 Pro FS R BE. When I choose DSD recording mode, the Analog input level meters show  around -74 Db level, irrespective of any input connection or even without anything plugged in. When I switch the device to PCM mode, the noise level goes down to 100-106 db. Is this a normal behaviour? Thanks.

Re: Analog Input noise level in DSD Recording Mode

That's normal. For example the digital DC filter which is default in all PCM converters becomes inactive in DSD mode (no digital processing). This is not an audible signal. Additionally there is only a level meter because we perform an internal DSD to PCM conversion (only PCM data shows 'levels'), and this simplified conversion shows the data with lots of high frequency noise - again not audible.
