Topic: UCX II/Total Mix - Morningstar Engineering MC3 - midi setup

Hello  there,

I have a Morningstar Engineering MC3 midi controller which I'm trying to program to control my UCX II interface to kind of replicate what ARC USB controller does. I read the manual through and through but I struggle to get my head around the Mackie protocol and how to program switch actions on MC3 to send notes and respective values to do just simple actions like - master mute, dim, load snapshots...

I mean, I'm not complete MIDI/MC3 noob - I have managed to get MC3 to work with various FX pedals - Eventide, Chase Bliss Audio, Midi relay switches, VST Plugins, even control SW on my PC via keyboard shortcuts (which MC3 is also able to send), but I fail to set it up to work with UCX II.

I have tried midi input in Total Mix set to either Morningstar MC3 or UCX II (depending on the setup I  tried - midi over USB or physical midi cable from MC3 midi out to UCX II midi in), I program note on/off actions for the switches, sent to midi ch1 as manual says, nothing happens (I even tried to use lower octave notes). I even disabled the protocol support to avoid the Mackie mess, so the UCX II should respond just to simple note on/off messages.

Could anyone bring some light to what I'm doing wrong or give me some advice what to try? Did anyone had success controlling RME audio interfaces via similar midi controller?

thanks in advance for any piece of advice.

What velocity value was used for the note ON/OFF commands ?
I remember something that those need a high value, try 127.

when I configure note on/off, action on MC3 the editor automatically suggests value 0, but I have obviously tried that and logically velocity 127 for on and 0 for off (and other way around) with no  success. I just can't find any logic behind it..

note-on command with velocity zero makes even less logic, it's like watching a piano not touching with the hands and wonder why no music comes out.

Check the Midi-ports selected in the Totalmix Options preferences

Seems, you mix many things together.

How is TM MIDI Controller set up? With/without Mackie enabled? Functionality and Notes differ if Mackie is on/off.
Which exactly Notes did you program in your MC3 and which control do you want to alter in TM?

thanks! I needed that, I have finally got it and managed to set MC3 to send messages to which Total Mix responds to.
