Topic: Understanding UCX II I/O - Help Me Count to 20

Hey all!

I'm looking for help understanding where the 20 inputs and outputs on the UCX II are coming from.

Let's talk inputs for now:
- 2 analog mic / line on front
- 2 hi-z on front
- 4 analog line on back
- 8 via ADAT input

That's 16, but where do the other 4 inputs come from?

For outputs:
- 6 line level outs on back
- 2 headphone signals L/R on front
- 8 via ADAT output

Again getting 16. I feel like there's probably something about the other digital connections (via AES I/O) that I don't understand.

2 channels SPDIF
2 channels AES

- AES (2 ins / 2 outs)
- SPDIF (2 ins / 2 outs)

Is that correct?

SPDIF I'm familiar with mostly through sending digital audio to my home stereo (dac / amplifier combo). Is there an easy way to add more mic pres to either the AES and SPDIF inputs?

Yes
Each connector of the breakout cable is for a stereo signal input or output.

Yes when the Pre has SPDIF or AES connection.

Awesome, tysm for all the info! Stereo signals being the two channels makes sense. I think this answers all my questions smile
