Topic: Fireface 800 - 2 interfaces Set Up ADAT

Hey,

I just recently got my second Fireface 800 because I needed more I/O's.

Daisychain thru firewire cables works fine but I don't know how to route I/O's in Totalmix this way, so I followed the instructions on the youtube video for the 3rd option: ADAT sync. I think I did it right but the HOST RED light on the standalone unit is always ON.

That video has a poor resolution so I can barely see the little numbers on the matrix.

I also try different Adat cables, brand new one and also tried to link thru ADAT2 I/O

Anyone had the same issue?

Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you

PS: If anyone know a way to route thru any of the first two options on the video, that would be good too!

If you would have provided a link to the video...

In your use case one of the units need preparation in Totalmix, then save the mixer to the device for standalone-use.

Route all adat inputs to analog outputs
and route all analog inputs to adat outputs
Set the clock-mode to internal with the desired sample rate.

The other unit connected via Firewire to the computer in normal use, set the clock-mode to external optical.

Connect both units together with two toslink cables

Use Totalmix of the one FF800 for monitoring all channels
Adat 1 to 8 is connected to the analog I/Os of the second FF800.

Hey Waedi!

Thanks a lot for the quick response!!!

Well, this is the video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oibj81QIq4s&t=177s

It is very well explained and I followed all the steps for the third link option (ADAT)

My problem comes with routing in the matrix.
That's probably an older version of Totalmix which doesn't match with the actual one. And the resolution of the video is poor so I can't barely see the numbers.

Thanks a lot!!!

Hello Waedi!

Apparently I was right since the beginning. So dumb!

I saw that red light "host" in the standalone unit and also "unit desconected" in the totalmix (standalone).

Of course it was disconected. There was no firewire connected! . Only the toslink cables..

Thanks again for your help!!!!

The word Daisychain is widely used all over the place while the meaning of it is unknown.

If someone would make a good education video about the term Daisychain, it would be helpful.

Someone like Monty Montgomery or Julian Krause or Harald Lesch or MC ?

Re: Fireface 800 - 2 interfaces Set Up ADAT

For the record, mind that connecting two FF800 through FireWire is not a daisy chain. The first one acts as a Firewire hub, there is no communication between the two across FireWire.
I've successfully used a Fireface 400 as a hub to record video from an old DV camera to a PC...
