Topic: Babyface Pro FS Standalone Digital Noise
Hi,
I found weird digital noise problem which only happens when I use Babyface Pro FS as standalone mode with external power supply.
When the Babyface is connected via USB to my Mac, everything is fine. The digital noise sounds like the sound is ring modulated.
Here is my set up
- RME UCX as 'FREE' for more in/out capability / connected to Mac via usb
- Babyface Pro FS as 'SUBMIX' as extra inputs plus as main output for speakers and headphones. / via external power supply.
- They are connected with ADAT cables.
I know that Babyface does not have DSP saving capability for total mix setting, but in the manual it is also written that, by connecting it with Mac for loading total mix setting and by unplugging, Babyface keeps the setting until the power turned off.
And this works as it it written in the manual, but when the Babyface is not connected via usb with my laptop, it creates weird ring modulated like sound noise.
Is there any way that I can fix this problem by keeping this set up?

Here I add more explanation that why I want to keep this set up.
I can connect Babyface Mac via usb, but then I cannot use my second screen, cause all the usb ports are used. To be able to use maximum in/outs, I need to use UCX as main(Babyface has less number of total hard/software in/outs), and because I'm using all the 8 outputs of it for signal processing, I'm using Babyface as a main output plus additional inputs. I'm using total mix for routing many in/outs for external sound processing, and if I use Babyface as 'FREE', I cannot fully use the analog in/outs, because of software ADAT routing's limitation.
Please share with me your ideas and tricks...! Maybe I'm missing something?
THANK YOU!
