Topic: UCX not happy in new relationship with iMac

iMac 2019
OS 15
RME UCX

My UCX and the newly acquired OS 15/iMac architecture aren't talking.
The connection is Firewire via Thunderbolt (2 to 3)
I've downloaded the drivers but no joy. (I've tried both Firewire and USB drivers in Kernal and Driverkit formats)
I would appreciate any insights,
yours,
Tadhg

Why not simply use the USB connection?
Also, what exactly does not work?

Re: UCX not happy in new relationship with iMac

Thank you Daniel for getting back.
The UCX is behaving as if it's feeding back on itself and Total Mix can't launch-it always functioned without problems on my MacPro 2012 (OS 10.13)
I bought a Firewire to Thunderbolt connector as I've never used the USB. Do you reckon I need to get a USB to Thunderbolt connection?
Thank you again,
Tadhg

The Mac supports USB-C, you can use a simple USB-C/USB-B cable.

Thank you, Daniel, I did some more looking up today and learned a few new things about USB and will have a go at that shortly,

Re: UCX not happy in new relationship with iMac

This is interesting.  I'm currently running 15.0.1 on my MBP but I'm still running 10.14.6 on my Mini, which is where my UCX resides.  I think I can upgrade the Mini to 10.15 but not beyond.  I'd need new hardware to run 15.  Probably I should put that off as long as possible.

Re: UCX not happy in new relationship with iMac

I might have to go back to 10.14 as I've again tried but this time with USB and still no kick off it. I reverted to my Mac Pro for the moment running OS 10.13. Stay where you're safe for the moment, I'd say. Maybe RME will sort out their drivers for UCX in the context of OS15?

Originally I stuck with 10.14 because I was using Pure Music/Vinyl with the UCX and Channel D never upgraded to 64bit.  I converted all my Pure Music stuff to m4a so there is no longer a reason not to upgrade except for possible compatibility issues with the UCX.
