Topic: Integration New madi device

Hi,

i would like to integrate a new madi device to my setup, which is mic12 going via madiface usb to the computer. Shall i connect the new device to the remaining madi i/o of the 12mic or to the madiface? Would the madiface still accept masterclock from the 12mic if there is another device coming in through channels 64 to 128?

Thanks for any advice.

Yes and the new device should be able to sync to extarnal clock source.

You can open the plastic housing of a Madi optical cable and have two separate plugs for connecting all Madi devices in a daisy chain.

Other things to look for

1. MADI frame

I propose to check for or choose a MADI frame size of 96k just in case you want to use single and double speed.
Then the other devices should be able to automatically follow the master in terms of sample rates (single and double speed).
You need to configure it in the driver settings for the MADIface USB and on each of the 12Mic.

2. MADI routing on each of the devices

On each 12Mic route the channels from/to MADI channels.
But do not forget to route all other MADI channels (that this device does not use) are being routed through to the next device in the chain. Otherwise the MADIface USB won't see all MADI channels and (from memory) metering of the 1st 12Mic will be missing.

3. Auxdevice

Do not forget to enable Auxdevice for remote control in TotalMix FX, then you do not need the separate application RME connector.
