Topic: [Solved] Apogee & MADIface USB

Just bought a Madi face USB. Downloaded the drivers and flash update for the firmware. Have everything installed. It powers up.
I see it in my Mac Pro (Monterey). Shows up in my Audio/MIDI Setup.
I can open total mix and settings. I have it hooked up to the BNC connections only. And yes, the USB is connected directly to my Mac.
But it still does not see my Apogee Symphony MKII as a word clock source even though the Apogee is constantly spitting out WC sync.

Help?

Hi,

How is the cabling between the two devices (Apogee, MADIface USB).

Pls. post screenshot of RME driver settings including the lower part "Input Status", same for the Aprogee.

Re: [Solved] Apogee & MADIface USB

The cabling is BNC cables only at this point. No optical.
Here is the screenshot. It is on a picture share site now and not my google drive.

And the Input Status in Settings dialog? Clock Source set to BNC In? Word below shows no Lock?

Re: [Solved] Apogee & MADIface USB

Quite obvious what you can see there.
You set clock source to "BNC in", but it doesn't get a clock signal from there, see also input status, no lock, no sync.
Therefore, you see there, as well, that it uses its internal clock (current clock: internal).

The question is, do you want the Apogee to act as clock master?
If yes: is the Apogee configured to act as clock master? Then it needs to be configured to use its internal clock.

Do you have the apogee connected via BNC?

On Apogee and RME MADIface USB you might want to change the protocol settings to
use 64 channels (if you do not need pitch) and then set the MADI frame format to 96 k frames.

A few information regarding clock synch here in my blog:

Re: [Solved] Apogee & MADIface USB

The MADI Input is set to Coaxial. Switch the Input to Optical if you want to receive Word Clock on the BNC input.
