Topic: In praise of RME

Like everyone here I love my RME (ADI-2 DAC fs). But in the past couple of days my level of admiration has gone skyward due to utilising one of the million-and-one features cool of this amazing DAC, the Dual EQ facility.

In recent weeks it has become apparent that due to my age (63), not only am I losing HF sensitivity like we all do, but I’m losing it unequally, so that my ability to hear HF is unequal in both ears.

After hooking up the Remote to my laptop I soon had a gentle and much needed boost to the upper frequencies to the left channel only. This immediately brought everything back into ‘focus’ and the music sounded right and balanced again.

With two Stax headphones, the SR L-300 and the SR L-700 Mk2, I have two slightly different PEQ setups, both set differently for each ear, and mapped to buttons 1 and 2 on my IR-remote.

After setting this up, it was brought home to me once again how truly remarkable this DAC is!

I remember at the time of purchase I was trying to decide between top level Chi-fi, or this. Part of me thought it was pointless buying a DAC with a load of features that I probably would never use. Ha-ha, shows you what I know.

Thank goodness I picked the RME!!

Re: In praise of RME

I can wholeheartedly agree with EKBluesboy. Buying the ADI-2 DAC FS was by far the best audio device purchase I have ever made. I particularly appreciate the analyzer view as well as the equalizer options (for headphones and speakers) and a few more features (auto ref or filter choice or dual level view for example. The dBr based volume control is very appreciated, too. ...).

I use the DAC as a preamplifier for a T+A A200 power amplifier (Purifi). The combination with the nubert nuvero 14 regularly brings a grin to my face and / or tears to my eyes (extra thanks to the Scott Brothers Duo) at the original volume.
