Topic: Reaper, OBS, buffer size?

Greetings,

First post here and I didn't see any previous posts that address this specific issue.

I am running Win 10, Reaper 7.22, and OBS 30.2.3.

I am having an issue where if I record my main display and audio in OBS while running Reaper, I cannot change the buffer size in Reaper to accommodate different workflows.  It seems that OBS or another screen recording app like Camtasia will steal the buffer size from Fireface 802 USB Settings and keep it locked up.  If I try to change the buffer size within reaper, I can, but then the audio goes to complete hell.  If I change the buffer size straight from the USB Settings panel, then the buffer size is not updated in Reaper.  Is this a WDM issue, or does anyone know what I can do to remedy this?  The goal would be to be able to work in Reaper and screen/audio record in OBS simultaneously whilst changing buffer rates on the fly in Reaper to accommodate different work flows and latency requirements.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Reaper, OBS, buffer size?

You did select ASIO RME in Reaper preferences audio device ?

Re: Reaper, OBS, buffer size?

Thanks for your reply, yes.

Audio System: ASIO
ASIO Driver: ASIO Fireface USB

Re: Reaper, OBS, buffer size?

In the Reaper preferences audio there is a setting "Request block size" it can be ON or OFF, play around with this.

Re: Reaper, OBS, buffer size?

The ASIO (and WDM) buffer size will not change as long as WDM is active - exactly to prevent the havoc that happened in Reaper when enforcing that.
