Topic: Inst inputs not recording, totally lost

I've been trying to figure this out for hours, and my head is totally done in at this point.

I'm trying to record using 2 stereo inputs. One pair to the mic jacks, the other to the inst jacks on the front panel. Up to now I've only used one or the other not both. And had no major issues. Recording on either Durec, or direct to my iPhone. I've test both and failed both.

(I use the iPhone to 'quickly' film works in progress, and haven't had a problem with just one pair of inputs.)

The mic jack inputs record as usual. The inst inputs show signal, and I've selected them to record, but nothing is happening. I've read through the manual as best I can, and found nothing.

As far a I can tell all settings are identical between the two pairs. But there's a lot that's not obvious so I'm surely missing something.

I've tried both using Total Mix and direct from the panel, no difference there either.

Follow up question, and forgive me, as I'm at the end of my wits right now, how do I get playback to work? I had it working and then lost it. Playback initiates but no audio.

One final piece of info, I'm monitoring through headphones, and have no other speakers connected to the system. I hear everything normally in the headphones, but obviously the Inst signal is getting to where ever it needs to be for recording.

Re: Inst inputs not recording, totally lost

Just found this thread, makes me think it's another thing that I can't do.

Re: Inst inputs not recording, totally lost

From what you write I guess your device is a UCX ll, right ?
Page 96 and following pages describes CC-mode use.

What is this Software you try to record with ?
Sure this software supports multichannel recording ? Often only input channels 1/2 is received.

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Re: Inst inputs not recording, totally lost

Yes, it's a UCX II, and unfortunately you're right, it looks like the phone's camera, and/or the Black Magic app will only accept inputs one and two. So I'm back to an external mixer for this job, c'est la vie.

At the moment there is a gap between iPhone and iPad regarding the apps features multichannel audio inputs.
Contact the apps developers, let them know your request, may be in a future update you get happy ?

Yeah, I'm a bit new to this side of things, it didn't even occur to me that would be the issue. Never hurts to let them know, even if it's Apple's native camera app. They do have a feedback form.

Maybe this thread helps someone else out in the same situation...
