Topic: connecting the RME as a headphone amplifier to the UAD Apollo x6

Hi there,

I am completely new on this subject that you need a headphone amplifier but I wanted to get the HEDDphone two for music mixing and mastering purposes. So I bough the RME Adi2 DAC fs and trying to make it work, but I did connect with the digital toslink cable and also the usn cable but no signal whatshowever... downloaded the remote but that didn't help. Anybody here in this forum with some usefull tips to have this set up/install this the right way to make it work? thanks in advance! Pirke

Re: connecting the RME as a headphone amplifier to the UAD Apollo x6

To avoid any mis-configuration, start with a full factory reset, ADI-2 DAC in default will work:

• While powering up, push and hold the VOL button (NOT the VOLUME dial) and Encoder 1 and Encoder 2, until you see the message: “Reset done“.

• Make sure the latest firmware is installed, on power up V.62 is displayed (at the time of writing).

• ADI-2 DAC will read ADAT, but only channels 1+2 of a non-S-Mux signal.
So max. sample rate is 48 kHz, and UAD routing must be set accordingly.

• So, better use UAD’s Coax SPDIF out, which has no limits, or set the used ADAT/Optical to SPDIF format in UAD’s settings, if this option exists.

• Don’t mix ins and outs: UAD out goes to ADI-2 in.

• For the moment, leave USB unplugged.
In factory default’s Auto-Input mode USB would dominate the Optical/Coax.
Once up and running you can plug USB and change the input setting.
