Topic: UCX II - Request for DSP (Firmware) changes

I have already requested before these DSP Firmware changes to RME here …

https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.ph … 60#p218960

... but I thought better create a new request thread. Please RME, don't forget Reese's feature request ;-)

My request changes on UCX II DSP are:

1st - Phantom (+48v) via MIC/GAIN encoder: If RME designed an encoder exclusively to handle mics, why can't +48v be activated on it? Please, the +48v option should be available via MIC/GAIN encoder as is AutoSet.

2nd - Recursive configuration via CHAN/MIX encoder: Although channels are set as Stereo the settings menu force to set each channel as Mono. Please, may RME improve it?

3rd – The 6 Setups: If it's possible, add more options to manage Setups via SETUP/REV→Options→Load/Store all Settings, as e.g. Save to and Load from (perhaps in the drive used for DURec...) or Copy to or Clear …  and would it be feasible to rename the Setups?

4th - Offline when the User decides: If UCX II can work without a computer, why not Offline from it? Would it be possible to have a Poweroff or Offline menu by pressing the main knob? Or add the Offline option in SETUP/REV→Options→Hardware/Diagnosis?

I love TotalMix and aware that RME do not design only for Stand-alone operation, also redesigning firmware is complicated and takes time and effort, I'm not being trivial but being able to request improvements is why RME is different, this is priceless :-)

Please RME take this into account.

All the best

Re: UCX II - Request for DSP (Firmware) changes

IDK. I never got any response if it's doable by devs. Some requests were not answered at all. If there were, the only answers I got on some requests I made, were mostly completely other solutions.

"Q: I would like to have another logo on my car."
"A: Do you know that trucks have other logo's?"

I'm not making any requests anymore. The devices are really great, but I just use them as is.

Should be possible as described in manual - "5.4 Overview Menu" Structure?
CHAN/MIX -> (the green) IN/OUTS -> go to AN 1/2 IN -> there should be a "48v" or "Channel Type" (for Mono/Stereo)
PS: I do not have an UCXII - but should be possible. Isn't?

I agree, that's the reason why I've separated my request from yours. I perceive that the Staff reads all (or almost all) new OPs related to requests. Their responses are usually conclusive but the silences are significant ... and also disappointing.

Yes and no:

- The exclusive encoder MIC/GAIN for manage mics without phantom It's absurd and make no sense, the CHAN/MIX encoder groups all possible settings for channels including +48v and AutoSet ... then (rhetoric) why is AutoSet on MIC/GAIN encoder and not +48v?

- When I set the 1/2 mic inputs (or any other channel) as Stereo using the CHAN/MIX encoder, the Settings menu should offer only 1 fader but no ... then (rhetoric) why must I set 2 faders (or any other setting) for 1 stereo channel? This is what I mean by 'Recursive'.

This is much more noticeable when using the very versatile UCX II with only 4 encoders, the stand-alone experience can be improved.

We already said that we want to add stereo operation. But there is no date when we can add it.

The exclusive encoder MIC/GAIN for manage mics without phantom It's absurd and make no sense

This is the same screen as in several other units, exists like that for many years, and no one ever thought it is absurd.

settings for channels including +48v and AutoSet ... then (rhetoric) why is AutoSet on MIC/GAIN encoder and not +48v?

Because activated AS is not easily visible nor is its activation (threshold reached) signalled anywhere else. While +48 V has two LEDs. That simple and logical.

This is much more noticeable when using the very versatile UCX II with only 4 encoders

4 keys and one encoder.

Re: UCX II - Request for DSP (Firmware) changes

When I ask 'why AS yes and not +48v?' it's because I consider it a logical decision to activate AS via MIC/GAIN key, then why has +48v not been added with the same logic?

Logic problem? The logic says there are two LEDs, so no signalling needed on the screen. Apart from that looking at it - there is no space left.
