Topic: UFX+ problem with one analog output?

Hello,

I'd like to confirm whether I'm making the correct assumption concerning a problem I'm encountering.

So, I seem to have what might be a hardware issue in one of the line-out jacks on the UFX+, though it's fairly strange. Once the output gets above a specific threshold, I begin to hear intermittent quiet popping sounds that continue for as long as the volume remains above that threshold (I had initially assumed it was static discharge in a microphone). I double checked that it wasn't my monitoring solution with loopback to a microphone input and got a recording of the popping directly, as well as testing other ports for a similar issue (I found none), and nothing is clipping.

I'm reticent to unhook the interface to check for cold solders or problems with a component because I'm using every single port on it, but does that seem to be what I need to do?

Respectfully,
Will

How about a cable loopback recording ?
Connect a cable from that hardware output to an input and record the signal when it is popping.

Hi waedi,

I have tried that and successfully got a recording of the intermittent popping. Comparing it to other i/o of the UFX+ shows that it's just that port.

Seems to be a case for the official RME support, you may be prepared for send in the unit for repair...
