Topic: New user with future hardware questions

Hello,

In the next few days, I will order a 12 mic interface as well as a fireface ufx iii interface, all plugged into a new mac mini M4 pro and Cubase 14 Pro.

I've looked at an indefinable number of messages on the forums and videos on youtube to prepare myself for the big day of installation.

However, I still have a few questions which I hope will be answered on this forum before I initialize the final click of my order.

- Firstly, do any of you have the same (or almost the same) setup as me and can confirm that everything works perfectly if I follow the installation recommendations and other manufacturer information?

- Secondly, I don't know what accessories are supplied in the original boxes of the interfaces, the mic 12 has if I've understood correctly a coax port and another (optional) for the MADI whereas the fireface has an optical conection included so, do I have to buy something extra to connect the 2 interfaces or is there for example a MADi cable (coax) supplied in the box, or do I connect with an adat cable? (included)?

Of course, I'm sure I'll have more questions later on about this magnificent piece of equipment, and I can't wait to plug it in and start recording!

Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my questions, as well as for any additional information that might help me to be as serene as possible on the day of installation.

Regards

Marco

Congrats! I've got a similar setup.

I'm not on Sequoia yet, still on Sonoma, nor using Cubase, but a tentative yes big_smile I am using the DriverKit drivers and so far everything is running well. But for others the Kernel drivers work better. Start with DriverKit would be my recommendation.

Will the 12mic in the same rack as your UFX III? If so the cables included should work. You only need to use the fiber cable connecting the MADI ports, no coax needed. Clocking goes over the fiber cable.

+1 galvanic isolation when using optical fiber (multimode, OM3 or OM4).

Hello Babul.

Thanks !!

This is what I will try first smile

The 12 mic will indeed be with the fireface for a while. As a drummer, I'll probably move it close to me when I'm playing so I can adjust the various parameters more easily.
My question about the connections was based on the fact that, looking at the interface product page (I'm unable to add a picture on this post....), it's noted that the MADI optical port is optional....., hence my question about coax or adat wiring.... Or have I misunderstood the connections included with the 12 mic?

Thanks again for your message and have a nice day

Marco

Hello Ramses,

+1 galvanic isolation when using optical fiber (multimode, OM3 or OM4).

Thanks for your information.

Without this accessory there will be strange and disturbing electrical noises if I understand correctly?
