Topic: Optimizing ADI-2 DAC FS ESS with Roon

Curious as to what others this is the optimal way to set up the RME ESS DACs with Roon via USB.  In my system I’m not having any issues with processor or network speed even with Max Power of 2 upsampling at 700k+ (never falls below 5x, no stutters, even with complex convolution running).   There are many filter choices on the DAC and methods for upsampling or even converting to DSD.

Once upsampled to sample rates of 88.2 kHz or higher, the filters in ADI-2 don‘t matter any more.
Their effect will be way beyond the audible range.

For sample rates 44.1 and 48 kHz, choose your personal preference by listening.
My favorites are SD-LD and Brickwall.

192 kHz is a good target sample rate, as it maintains full functionality of all ADI-2’s DSP processings.

Avoid converting PCM to DSD, there’s no sound advantage gained, only a lot of format-inherent limitations.
DSD format in general doesn’t allow any native processings, not even volume changes.
