Topic: ADI-2 Remote “Disconnected” even though ADI-2 DAC FS is recognized

I use a MAC mini (M4) as streamer with a RME ADI-2 DAC FS connected to it via USB. I have no issues using the ADI-2 as DAC and listen to audio.
I currently have set the ADI-2 as audio target but have tried Remote behavior also when audio target was the Mac mini speakers.

Also i run the Mac mini “headless” so no local screen. Rather i connect to it from remote using Screens 5.

What i want to do is to use ADI-2 Remote when changing things like parametric EQ. I have downloaded the newest software and have also the latest firmware installed on the DAC.
However, no matter what i do the Remote comes up as “Disconnected”.

I read in another thread with a similar issue on Windows where the issue was resolved by setting the audio output on the remote connect software to “remote”. However, i did not find any such setting on Screens. Instead, i set the system audio output to the Mac Mini speakers. But that did not change anything.

Any advice?

1) Make sure you indeed on the latest firmware and the latest driver version. The driver is needed for the new MIDI interface of the ADI, at least on Windows.
2) The device option to enable MIDI control can be found at Setup/Options/MIDI Control -> set to "ON" (scroll down all the way on the Options screen).

Re: ADI-2 Remote “Disconnected” even though ADI-2 DAC FS is recognized

I doublechecked the software and found that i indeed was not on the latest release. After changing that i actually was able to connect with Remote.
I made the mistake of thinking i must be on the latest software because i bought the unit only a little more than a week ago. My bad.

Thanks for reminding me of the basics!
