Topic: Power On/Off by USB power

Hello,
I have a request for one of the next firmware releases of the ADI-2 Pro.

I run the ADI-2 Pro on my Win10 PC. If I switch off the PC, the ADI-2 Pro stays on and I have to switch it off separately.
I would love to see the power of the ADI-2 Pro follow the PC. So PC off, ADI-2 Pro off.

Since the ADI-2 Pro is able to detect the presence of a USB connection (5V on the USB?), it should be very easy to offer a setting in the setup to enable this "Power follows USB" feature.

I hope that can be done.

The ADI-2 does not have the USB power connected.
Neither can it wake up by any form of external signal, all it’s signal detecting circuitry is powered down (standby power 0.2 W).

Use the Auto Standby to avoid a forgotten ADI-2 to stay active.

Thank you for your reply.

If there is no detection I wonder about this in the manual:

"Preamp: Analog In zu Analog Out (intern Digital Out zu In). Dieser Modus ist aktiv wenn
weder ein digitales Eingangssignal noch USB erkannt wird. "

I read this as there is some kind of detection. Would you please explain this.

Re: Power On/Off by USB power

It is detection of a digital Audi stream over USB, not power.

This detection works when ADI-2 is on, active state.
In standby nothing is detected.

Thank you,
the Auto Standby will help me I guess with my request, thanks' :-)
I did not see it in my interface yet, seems I have to update the firmware.

During firmware update are my setting preserved or do I have to enter all the parameters manually again?

Everything stays the same.

I have the latest firmware, shows up as V113 on ADI-2 Pro startup.

Re: Power On/Off by USB power

I was trying to figure out a way to do this over USB, then I got a master/slave powerstrip that has a master port that turns all of the slave ports off when the PC is off, and turns them back on when the PC is on:
https://www.amazon.com/ECG-7MVR-Energy- … 1W?ie=UTF8

Works perfectly. I tested it multiple times yesterday and the RME turned all the way on, no standby mode

Great! You simply connect your PC to the "Control Outlet" and all other devices to the "Automatically Switched Outlets". It measures the current draw on the "Control Outlet" to turn the other outlets On/Off.

I wonder how a sudden power cut will affect the lifespan of the RME ADI-2 in daily use. Still, the device has a bootloader, firmware, memory, processor, etc. I remember the RME representative wrote that the device tolerates power supply interruptions well. But someone wrote that his firmware crashed after several power-on and power-off cycles, so he had to send the device to a service center for low-level flashing.
