Topic: Crossfeed with Line out/ Near-field monitors...

Is anyone using the crossfeed with Line Out, I have the Adi 2 connected to Genelec nearflied monitors and a 1-2 corssfeed seems to open up the sound stage better...

Re: Crossfeed with Line out/ Near-field monitors...

Isn't crossfeed made for headphones ?
I would never use it with loudspeakers, it alters the music.

Re: Crossfeed with Line out/ Near-field monitors...

A speaker setup has already crossfeed because you hear the left and the right speaker together and they overlap.

With headphones you can not hear the opposite channel, the channels are completely separated (in theory) and to simulate a speaker setup with headphones that's what crossfeed is for.

In theory crossfeed is best for headphones yes, but I find that it alters the listening stage perception, in other words if you are sitting very close to the monitors it will simulate a larger and wider listening distance…

You should do whatever you like, that’s what the DSP is made for.

Only, if you are producing music you should head for an as neutral reference sound as possible.
Sometimes tastefully used EQ can help with that, specifically to deal with room- or positional-related anomalies.
