Topic: Aio & Adi-2 FS ADAT not producing sound

I am having trouble connecting these two devices via ADAT. i have adi-2 adat out plugged into rme aio adat input and vice versa on the other port. When I set my output in daw to adat 1-2 i can see the audio meters jumping but I get no sound for some reason. are there any settings I may need to look into to solve this issue? i have the analog outputs from adi-2 fs plugged into my monitor controller inputs if that is relevant info. I was able to get sound from using analog outs of aio to adi-2 analog input so I dont think its a faulty device. I must be missing something as I am still learning. Thanks in advance!

ADI-2 front left first button : select DIG
and third button from left select OPT

Sorry correction, don't select DIG, this is for digital thru, you want analog out, select one of the levels.
Digital IN has to be on OPT.

I've also just tried to get some sound out of the analog input by selecting adat in my daw and i'm not getting any sound that way either , but i can see the audio coming into the adi-2 on the dbfs lights. ive got dig in on opt and dig out on adat with the clock matching my daw. I hope there's a simple fix that I am overlooking

In Totalmix you did the routing of music to the hardware output Adat 1/2 ?

In Totalmix click onto the output Adat 1/2 (it gets highlighted)
Lift fader of the DAW music software playback channel 1/2, see the signal.

I have checked and made sure I routed to the output adat 1/2 and there's no sound coming through. started to get bummed out i think my hardware is damaged because on the aio left side adat lights up red and the other seems dead sad that would be adat out there's no light coming from the cord, im new to adat so im not sure

That is normal one port has light transmitter diode, the other has light receiver sensor.

You can do a cable loopback test.
At the AIO connect the optical cable on both ports and see the signal coming in on hardware input Adat 1/2

There is no signal when i do the loopback test unless i play audio in my daw with adat1/2 as main outputs

that is good, then you have music on the Adat 1/2 over the optical cable and the AdI-2 does receive the music.

The ADI-2 has only settings on the frontpanel.
The analog output volume knob is open ?

The analog output Level setting must not be ANA
Select one of the levels, let's say +13

I got extra lucky and accidently changed my outputs to spdif and finally found sound! My output is spdif l and r. Is this equivalent to adat? Thanks again for all your help guiding and troubleshooting

Adat is 8 channels and SPDIF is only two channels.

For the ADI-2 it makes no difference.
