Topic: ADI 2/4 clicking sound while off

Hello,

My ADI 2/4 is making some noise (clicking, coile whine, static noise) when off (red circle on power button)

My setup : PC (W10) -> USB -> ADI 2/4 -> HD650

Is it normal or should I take it back under warranty ?

It only stop if I disconnect the power supply, doesn't feel like a high end audio equipment

Thank you

Having browsed through your other posts here, I have an impression that you did not take your time familiarizing with the device and have not read the user manual. I strongly suggest doing so.

The device shouldn't make any sounds when in standby mode as reported by OP, so I don't know what happens here.

And I'm sure it does not. The relays click on entering the standby mode, that's all. The coil whine and static complaints are not credible.

The little external PSU is supposed to do a sound that reminds a bit to a police siren in standby.
That‘s normal, it‘s the PSU delivering very little power for the standby supply.
The sound is very quiet, only audible from close.

Other than that no mechanical sounds should be present when standby has settled.

I have an ADI-2/4 Pro SE and an ADI-2 Pro right next to me and never heard such.
Their PSUs lying somewhere on the floor, inaudible for me either.

During power up and down process of course you can hear some relays clicking.

Yes, it is indeed the PSU making some kind of noise including a cyclic coil whine sound and not the DAC itself.
