Topic: ADI-2/4 Pro SE turned off on own and would not turn back on for 5min

I just set up my ADI-2/4 Pro SE a couple of days ago and it has been working properly

However, a few minutes ago, while I was listening to music (connected via USB to my Mac), the RME powered off

The power cable had not come detached, the connection to the power brick had not come detached, and the power cable had not come detached from the USP/Surge Protector

I unplugged all the foregoing and tried different outlets on the USP as well as directly into the wall

Nothing worked until, after about 5 minutes of trying various outlets, the RME powered back on

Anyone else experience this? Is this a known issue? Could the unit be defective?

sure the unit is standing free for good heat dissipation, not covered with books...?

The top is slightly warm
The bottom is warmer

I had only had it powered on for about 15 minutes at the moment it occurred

Because you said after 5 minutes it went back to normal, this let me think it was cooling down.
But from the photo, your device looks great.
If this issue happens more often, then it is suspected to need service.

Thanks - very strange - especially since I only set it up a couple of days ago and have not had a chance to listen through it for any length of time

Fingers crossed it was a one off error

Please check that the power connector is properly inserted in the power jack on the ADI-2/4. Hopefully that is the cause.

From the manual:

"Socket for power connection. This socket supports locking type jacks as found on the included
RME DC power supply. After inserting the connector carefully turn it by 90° so that it locks. If the
unit turns off easily when moved then the connector is NOT fully inserted into the socket"

Is the power supply RME ?
Has the power plug these winglets ? It should.

For the power plug at the back of ADI-2 (all versions):

The plug has to go in until you don’t see any silver part.

When connecting power source, one has to set (rotate) barrel to correct position, fully insert, and lock (turn/rotate a bit). If done correctly it is not possible to remove barrel without unlocking it (turning a bit).

Test another power supply as well if this happens again.
