Topic: UFX3 <> aes <> ADI-2PRO

Hello All,

I am a music producer and just recently picked up the ADI-2 PRO to use as a DAC for my speakers. I want to leave the UFX3 at 0 and use the ADI-2 as a monitor controller. My question is what is the optimal starting level for the ADI-2 pro? I cannot leave that at 0 (+24) that will blow my ears. Right now things sound great at -20 (+4dBu), I just have to remember to leave it at -20 when I turn the volume up and down LOL.

Re: UFX3 <> aes <> ADI-2PRO

Set the ref level for ADI-2 Pro output to +4, instead of Auto. That should be more reasonable, and may be fine even at full level.

This worked, appreciate you!

Re: UFX3 <> aes <> ADI-2PRO

Or use auto reflevel and let the device do the job to automatically select the best working reflevel for the chosen volume.
The device offers four reflevels in total.
See also my excel here about the benefits of auto reflevel.
You can additionally combine this with attenuators for the active monitors if the volume mismatch is too high.

See the link to the Excel in this posting

These switchables here are good.

Matthias Carstens (MC) confirmed already, that the use of such attenuators is neutral to the sound.
