Topic: RME Digiface Dante Update Gone Wrong

Hello

I updated the DANTE Firmware of my Digiface Dante to version 4.2.9.4 and the result was distorted audio when transmitting by Dante Network to other equipment. In this case the other equipment is a Ferrofish Pulse 16Dx and a Midas M32C with X-Dante card.

The distortion doesn't happen when Digiface Receives audio, either by USB or Dante, I checked it in the Phones Jack Output.

I had to rollback to firmware 4.2.5.3 so it could work properly again.

Why release a firmware that doesn't work? Please alert people that they shouldn't do the firmware update.

Thank you

Please provide more details about the setup. Mac or PC? Driver version? Etc...

Re: RME Digiface Dante Update Gone Wrong

4.2.9.4 includes important fixes for stream handling. On our tests (also with Ferrofish) we did not notice any distortion. Also this firmware comes from Audinate. If it would be broken more people would complain, and Audinate will update it. But so far there seems to be no general issue - and no further update.

New try, same result. Rollback to 4.2.5.3 works like it should. Let me know how should i proceed then. Thank you

Re: RME Digiface Dante Update Gone Wrong

Just a question of curiosity. Did you update the Ferrofish and the X-Dante card also with the same firmware? I dont know if that is even possible.

Re: RME Digiface Dante Update Gone Wrong

It turned out that there are two separate issues:

- The firmware updater within in the latest Dante Controller is broken. Audinate will soon release an update. Affected is the latest Dante Controller 4.14.1.2, released mid January, including Dante Updater 2.7.1.

- The interface timing changed a bit in firmware 4.2.9.4 for the Brooklyn III module. This caused communication issues with the DF Dante FPGA and then caused clicks on playback. This has been resolved in Digiface Dante firmware 60 which is available on our website.

While v60 now allows to use 4.2.9.4 without any issues we recommed to not update until the new Dante Controller is released.

Re: RME Digiface Dante Update Gone Wrong

I´ve updated to the latest controller 4.14.2.1 and fw 60, but now the ethernet adapter doesn´t work anymore.
Maybe i was a bit to early with the update?
