Topic: DigiCheck NG 0.92 (Mac OS Sequoia) - no active displays

I have just moved my RME ADI 2 FS from a Windows PC to a Mac mini. I have downloaded the latest drivers and software and all runs well (including the remote) except the Digicheck NG which loads up, says "processing active ADI-2 DAC (serial number)" but nothing shows on any of the views. I cannot find anything obvious why this should be, any help and advice will be very welcome. Thanks.

You did right-click into one of the instruments (analyzers) and select input ?

M1-Sequoia, Madiface Pro, Digiface USB, Babyface silver and blue

Re: DigiCheck NG 0.92 (Mac OS Sequoia) - no active displays

yes, it is set to the ADI 2 DAC (and displays the model number) on all the windows and still displays nothing.

Re: DigiCheck NG 0.92 (Mac OS Sequoia) - no active displays

You need to activate "Loopback" in the ADI-2 DAC I/O-Menu to see signals played from your Mac to the DAC. If not, you observe signals from SPDIF Inputs.

Many thanks, the displays now work.
However every time the sample rate of a new track changes the display freezes and then DigiCheck states “not available “. I then need to quit the programme and restart it whereupon it works perfectly until the next change in sample rate. Any advice please?

DigiCheck NG - Options - Audio Device Setup. Sample rate - Set actively - that one should be unchecked.

DC NG does not support sample rates higher than 192 kHz and DSD playback.

Otherwise automatic sample rate switching works.

Thanks for this. I have unchecked the "set actively" option but still have the same problem in that I have to exit and reload the programe every time the sample rate changes. Is there anything else I should be checking?

Many thanks for your help

A complete description of your setup, used apps, OS etc...

I also have to ask why that option was checked. Default is off, so you changed that?

Mac mini M4 Pro running OS 15, Sequoia (latest version) I am using jRiver as the source (but the same problem occurs if I use Apple Music and VLC). USB link to the ADI dac which is connected to a pair of AE 1 Active speakers.

I am using the latest version of DigiCheck NG and the latest version of the software remote control, both downloaded from the RME website on 11th January. And the firmware on the DAC is the latest version downloaded at the same time.

Sample rates vary depending on the album, from 44.1 to (a few at)192khz. File formats are mostly .flac with a few .wav files.

The reason why the option was checked is that as DigiCheck stopped working when the sample rate changed I was looking to find a solution and thought that the option might need to be on. So I turned it on but it made no difference.

Thanks for your help.

Does DC continue to work if you change the sample rate in Audio MIDI Setup manually while playing from Apple Music??

I don’t know because I cannot use Apple Music, all my files are in .flac format and Apple Music will not recognise that.

Edit: Opening Apple Audio MIDI Setup when running jRiver shows the current format as the actual sample rate of the music for both input and output. When a different track with a different sample rate is played, the shown format in the MIDI setup changes to the new bit rate. If I manually change that bit rate it immediately reverts back to the actual bit rate, I.e. it won’t let you change it manually.
