Topic: ARC USB in CC mode with UCX II / UFX II / UFX III

Hi,

any experience how this setup works?
ARC USB in CC mode with UCX II / UFX II / UFX III.

ARC's manual elaborates only on stand-alone mode with UFX+ and II, no word about CC.

Same. You have no TotalMix in CC, so no extended functionality.

Re: ARC USB in CC mode with UCX II / UFX II / UFX III

Thanks for your reply.

Chapter "8. ARC USB and UFX+ / UFX II in Stand-Alone Mode" does not mention UFX III and UCX II.
I guess it only wasn't updated and functionality is the same for both, with PH2 vol and DURec doing nothing when connected to the UCX II.

The 1/4" TS jack on the right side does nothing in stand-alone or CC-mode, I suppose.

A firmware update allowing on-device per-key layout customization would be nice, where "1s op" would be only a checkbox below,
but the idea we're getting stand-alone functionality in class-compliant mode (plus stickers) isn't bad.

Regarding stickers... the ones displayed at https://rme-audio.com/arc-usb.html background image are actually wrong, aren't they? Should be placed above the three lower keys.

Re: ARC USB in CC mode with UCX II / UFX II / UFX III

Why is it we're only able to adjust the main volume with the ARC in CC mode? It would seem reasonable that we should also be able to adjust Phones 1 & 2, Mono and Dim, right?
Am I missing something?

Maybe. Check manual, chapter "8. ARC USB in Stand-Alone Mode (Direct Connection)", in stand-alone or CC there are 3 settings how ARC will operate. Do you set "Standalone ARC normal" on your interface?

Yes, "Standalone ARC normal" set (UFX III).
I've also plugged both units into a Windows QEMU emulation with TotalMix, updated firmware, etc.

Thing is, in Standalone mode, these functions works as expected. However, once plugged into a host in CC mode, only main volume can be effected from ARC. Which seems like either an oversight or an imposed limitation? I'm not sure.

Nice :-) ...considered such practice quite experimental, so I tried it only on my older BabyFace, but nice to see people got encouraged.
Btw did you try to measure round-trip latency through QEMU?

My UCX II did work with ARC in CC just as in stand-alone. Try using it in CC and check the menu if you accidentaly don't have different ARC mode settings for CC and for stand-alone mode.

Sure - telling us what interface you have. Not all can switch between TM FX (for iOS, which is CC mode) and no TM FX in CC mode. If not then obviously the ARC can not be fully supported in CC mode, as it would collide with the iOS app if used that way.

Don't mix up Germany with some lobbyist group of dubious virtue. Whenever I hear the word "sovereignty", I know they want to make my life harder.

I don't think promoting political agendas is welcome on this forum.

Sadly I don't have a UFX III to try. Do you have your DURec port occupied together with ARC connected in CC mode? What host are you connecting the interface to?

Well, now we know its UFX III.

Is there a differene in this regard between UFX III and UCX II?
My UCX II appears to operate with ARC as expected in CC, connected to a Linux host.

There is a separate thread on this topic https://forum.rme-audio.de/viewtopic.php?id=27309

I have a UFX III, and I am using Linux.
Thank you for advising.

I have not checked round-trip latency. Although, next time I fire up the VM I'll see what I can do.

Yes, I tried each ARC mode to be sure, but no avail.

The DURec port is not occupied, and I am using the dedicated REMOTE port on the UFX III with the supplied USB cable to connect the ARC.
