Topic: HELP: 12mic-D setup

Hello everyone. I have purchased a 12mic-D B stock. So it was possibly a return or open box. Not sure if that is whats playing into this problem but I'm guessing so.

When I power on the 12mic-D the standby button in the bottom flashes between white light and red light back and forth. I looked this up online and it says this means there is a problem.

My guess is someone set the dante network up at one point as when i power it on it says DANTE SYNCHRONIZATION IN PROGRESS, and I have to hit the headphone knob to get the notification to go away.

I do get sounds locally, but I am trying to connect it via MADI to the fireface ufx III.  I tried factory resetting but that seems to just be the routing it didn't really reset everything about the device. One of my questions is to update the drivers and firmware of the 12mic-D do I need to connect it to a network? I guess my second question is will that stop the error I'm having that's causing the standby light to flash between white and red light?

Re: HELP: 12mic-D setup

Ensure that UFX III is configured in the driver settings to act as clock master (clock source internal).
Use a browser to access the 12mic. Then configure the 12Mic to get the clock via MADI optical.
Also take a look, that both devices are set to use MADI 96k frames (not sample rate, 96 k frame format).
Next stop is to configure routing which has two parts
- the channels from 12Mic (12 Mic channels) and the two channels for phones
- the other channels ** not used by 12Mic ** need to be passed through, to be routed to the UFX III

You again! I need to learn a little bit more as I didn't even know what frame format was before you mentioned it. So for starters I will connect it via Ethernet so I can access it through a browser.

I'll report back if I have any more issues after these instructions. Thanks once again for your knowledge

Re: HELP: 12mic-D setup

The blinking is most likely because of missing clock synchronization.
So I do not talk about the management of the unit.
I elaborate on the things to get clock synchronization done.

Additionally, you need to configure routing.
But not only in TotalMix FX but also on each connected MADI device (one or more, in your case one 12Mic).

Re: HELP: 12mic-D setup

Just wanted to update you. So the big problem I've had after I connected everything is problems with changing the clock. It is always saying Dante is the grandleader and won't let me change any clock settings without it reverting back to normal. I've routed everything and double checked all connections, even spoke with RME on the phone and had them remote into my PC.

Turns out it's a hardware issue, I will be exchanging the unit with hopes the next one doesn't cause so much headache. I thought maybe I just needed to connect Dante as it may have been set up in the past and just confused, but the device isn't even really showing up in Dante Controller, except in the error logs where it says there is a subnet mismatch.

If you do have any tips I'd try them out but it seems like the unit has an issue.

For clarification I did try all of your steps, using coaxial instead of optical, had 2 cables connected, checked the clock source as internal on the Fireface ufxIII, but it still will not allow me to change the clock speed. Also, if I am in 96hz on the fireface ufxIII the coaxial madi "input" shows red. I can make it green again by either setting the clock to 48hz (where it is stuck) or the MADI frame rate to 48 instead of 96. Both allow the coaxial input to be green again, but still do not allow me to change the clock at all.

Re: HELP: 12mic-D setup

If there is a hardware issue and RME was already involved, well than you need to solve this HW issue 1st.
