Topic: MADI Bridge as digital switcher

I'm about to purchase a MADI Bridge, and need to know if it will work as a real time switcher. I.E. can I send two MADI streams from 2 separate rigs locked with TimeCode. If one locks up, can I switch the input of say output 8 from input 8 to input 7 without having a clocking problem and no noticeable pop. I can't have that happen as this is for playback tracks for a major tour. A pop through the PA will result in the loss of my gig smile

Thanks everyone,
B

Re: MADI Bridge as digital switcher

The MADI Bridge does not alter (reclock) any signal. So if one signal is lost you will have a pop. Then when you switch and the rest of the system reclocks there might be the next pop.

I am not aware of any solution to prevent this except very expensive devices.

Thanks MC. what if both rigs are clocked from the same master clock? and the analog output box is getting its clock signal from the MADI stream?
