Topic: digicheck - recover lost recording

Hi all,
some days ago I recorded a live concert with digicheck (26 mono tracks with FF800 + 2xADA8000 on a compal HEL80 laptop).
At the end of the show (in the hurry of pack and leave at 3 pm) I made the mistake of not saving the recorded data (wich was present in the form of digirec0.$av in the correct directory) before closing digicheck (...yes I know, stupid me!). Now the recording direcory is empty.
I already tried with all the undelete program I could find to no avail, Recuva (recommanded by MC on another thread) is one of the few that finds digirec0.$av but with 0byte dimension.
The recording has been made on a separate data partition that haven't been written on so...
Did anybody made the same mistake and manage to recover the lost data?
Thanks for your help

Marco

You can not close DIGICheck without confirming the dialog box which tells you that you will lose the recorded data. If you do so then it gets deleted.

Yes, that's exactly what i stupidly did thinking the dialog box was referring to some additional data ( the file was there after all ), well... my mistake.

...was just hoping someone found a way to recover the data in a similar event, but I guess I'm the only one fool enough to make such a mistake :-O

anyway... thank you for listening (reading?)

You need a backup recorder... Something external, Fostex or Alesis... cool

First of all, make sure that you do not write any new data to that drive/partition!

Different recovery applications may come to different results. There are free demos available for download, but they only show you what they found without letting you recover. But it's enough to find out if there's any chance anyway.

Try R-Studio: http://www.haage-partner.de/datenrettun … nload.html

Try Ontrack Easy Recovery (should not need professional): http://www.ontrack.de/easyrecovery-professional/

Free Tools (I had good results with PC-Inspector):

http://www.pcinspector.de/

http://www.raymond.cc/blog/archives/200 … -software/

http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/syste … overy.html

http://free-backup.info/data-recovery-software.htm

Problem is that probably the file-header was deleted as a 0 byte file instead of its true size when you closed Digicheck. If you recorded to WAV (or any other very popular consumer formats) then some of the recovery tools, especially the professional ones, might be able to find the data nevertheless by searching for that specific data even without a proper file-header.
