Topic: powering down/up the UC by simply un/plugging into the socket; SAFE?

For some reason I placed the Fireface UC away from where I usually sit in front of the monitor and where my keyboard/other gear is.

I placed the rear Power Switch permanently to the "ON" position and I am powering the UC up/down by merely plugging/unplugging it from the wall socket.

Is this safe for the unit?

- Windows 7 Professional x64;
- Sonar X1 x64.

Hi,
I am in a similar situation with it rackmounted and need some advice about this. Is switching the wallplug socket off risky?

Also the placement of the on/off switch is a bit restricted due to the placement of the power socket if I reach into
the rear of the rack. HeadScratch

There is no higher risk using the power supply as on/off switch than using the switch on the back or removing/inserting the power jack into the back. The only thing I would be worried about is un/plugging the FireWire cable...

No, that was confusion on my side. Un/plugging the USB cable does not have a risk like doing this with the FW cable.
