Topic: Thinking about buying a used Multiface (original) PCI..still relevant?

Im considering buying a used Multiface, the original one, for my Mac G5.

wondering if the converters, general features etc are still relevant and all..

Talk some sense to me..

thanks

Re: Thinking about buying a used Multiface (original) PCI..still relevant?

Makes sense, but beware that all Intel Mac's don't have any PCI slots, so you will be forced to upgrade to the PCIe HDSP when you get an Intel Mac...

cool

MADIface-XT+ARC / 3x HDSP MADI / ADI648
2x SSL Alphalink MADI AX
2x Multiface / 2x Digiface /2x ADI8

No biggy, i think Ill be with this comp for bit longer..just wondering if Im going to get up to date quality sound and all..i gues my rference point is important.

Im currrently using an ALesis io 14 firewire. Actually, decenl sound but im sure the RME will be better..?

Re: Thinking about buying a used Multiface (original) PCI..still relevant?

The MF1 sounds decent but while I don't know the Alesis io 14, I wouldn't expect a tremendous step up. If you want to improve conversion quality I'd suggest the MF2 or the Fireface series and up.

PC1 = HDSPe PCIe: DF-ADI-8 DS / HDSPe PCIe: MF2
MBP = HDSPe Expresscard: MF1
