Topic: 2 Raydats configured in Mac Pro

Hi,
I have 4 available slots in a new Mac Pro/OS 10.5.8 running Logic 9.0.2. I want to install 2 Raydats. I DO NOT want to make an Aggregate Device. Will all 64 Raydat channels be available in Logic's core driver without making Aggregate Device?  (2 stacked Fireface 800's require Aggregate Device)

Hi Mark,
You will need to make an aggregate device when trying to use multiple audio devices under Core Audio.
This is the case with audio devices I've seen RME or otherwise.
OSX core audio is where the limitation is. Not sure why Apple hasn't fixed or improved multi-card support.

I was afraid that would be the answer. Aggregate Device under core audio is extremely flakey. Oh well. Thanks Chris!

flakey ? could you describe this in a more special way ?

I wanted to change my current setup (2 x hammerfall9652@windows) to 2 x raydat@intel mac. bad news if it would suck with aggregate device setup... If there'd be no other solution, I think it would be rather better to reduce input channels down to 36 instead of 52... :-(

recently I updated my HACKINTOSH setup with 2 x RME RayDAT. both cards are configured as an aggregate device.

running snow leopard 10.6.2 and logic 9.1.1 (32- and 64-bit).

everything is working fine. :-D
