Topic: FF800 and Win7 read this !

Hello there,
although a newbie here, I came across a weird case.
While setting up Win7 for a friend, the RME FF800 was having the well known firewire sound hiccups .....
The same RME setup was working fine on another computer (cable and all) with WinXP.
I took the computer tower home to check it on my system (I also have a FF800) .
It was working smoothly as  silk .....

IT WAS THE FIREWIRE CABLE !!!!!

It was working fine on WinXP , but stuttering on Win7 .
Strange or what ???

I thought that maybe it's good to know that, before you start messing with the firewire driver settings.

Re: FF800 and Win7 read this !

hm.. interesting..
have you run the dpc latency tool ?
I'm just making the step to Win7_x64 on my main machine and I also have those stutterings!
DPC latency reports 500?s while it's only 40?s on XP(32).
I've thought about the Firewirecable several times but didn't yet get another one (although I don't believe that it's "broken",.. it's still the long original FF800 Firewire-cable that came with the unit)
I'll certainly check that out,.. thanks for bringing this up.

Re: FF800 and Win7 read this !

Just curious, was it an OEM version of Win7?

Re: FF800 and Win7 read this !
