Topic: APC Index Mismatch: Causes Windows Crash and Blue Screen

I have a dual AMD Opteron (four processor, 1.8GHz, 2G memory/processor), MSI motherboard that I am having problems with. When I load the Fireface 800 driver, and use the control panel to change the default audio device, my system crashes and I get a: "APC Index Mismatch" error. The system is stable until I load the Fireface 800 driver. The interface to the two Fireface 800's is Firewire 400 through a: VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394 Host Controller. I have got the same error both under Windows XP Pro, and Windows 7 Ultra, 64 bit. At least Windows 7 allows the system to come up in Safe Mode, so I can unload the Fireface driver.

Can you please help?

Re: APC Index Mismatch: Causes Windows Crash and Blue Screen

We have never heard of this error message in combination with the Fireface. I did a Google search and found lots of VIA chipset and overclocking incompatibilities. It seems to me that the FF is not the real problem, but just uncovers a different problem on your hardware.
