Topic: Repairing bad inputs
Bought FF800 and Octamic D in 2006. Everything fine with Octamic. Recently new problems with FF800.
I have 2 inputs (1/4" on back) that are not working. They are #2 and #3. I am not 100% sure, but I believe they worked when the unit was new, but they may not have. When you look at these two inputs it appears that there is some light calcification (white chalky looking build up) around the edges of them. I had an 8 way 1/4" snake plugged in there and when I pull those male plugs out, they appear to have a little corrosion on them too.
All the gear (including the snake) was bought new in 2006 and nothing strange has happened to anything, so I am not sure what happened.
I am curious if this is something that I can fix myself (if so, where can I get the replacement input jacks and what type do I buy?) or do I send it in somewhere to have it fixed. Wondering if there is a good way to clean those jacks out and possibly bring back to life.
I am a capable and confident PCB solderer.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
