Topic: Fireface and Window7 x64 - Better performance on legacy or native

Hey All,

Just out of interest I was wondering what the consensus was in regards to whether you are getting better performance using the legacy or native firewire driver in Windows 7. I have been finalising some audio notebook qualifying and testing lately, and found the legacy to give clearly better performance at low latency on the specific notebook.

I'll be interested to hear others experience

We see the same at this time. For many users the difference might be small, but it is there.

The difference isn't huge but still quantifiable.

Using the DPC Latency Tool you will also note that the constant load is a bit higher. Example: I see 250?s under Legacy, about 500?s under MS-FW on my (fryingpan) Dell notebook. Again it's not a big difference, but there is one.
