Topic: Record Error Counter SDK for 3rd party ASIO applications?

Matthias,

would it be possible to implement something like DIGICheck's Record Error counter into 3rd party ASIO applications? Samplitude already has it right? (Or was this feature removed from the RME drivers sometime ago? Don't remember exactly.)

If so, where can I (or the developers) get the details/SDK for this? I'm pretty sure that the REAPER developers for example would integrate this in their program ...

Most of the time I'm recording in REAPER, not DIGICheck.

DC's record error counter is not based on our drivers/hardware. This is simple programming within the application, no SDK. Samplitude used a special callback service to the drivers, but as that don't work with our latest driver/hardware anymore Sam/Seq currently do something similar to DC, it detects the errors from the application side.

Ok. Thanks! Any hints for the REAPER developers to implement such thing?

Put it into the REAPER feature request tracker: http://forum.cockos.com/project.php?issueid=2274

Re: Record Error Counter SDK for 3rd party ASIO applications?

Unfortunately, as we know, RME doesn't release software as GPL or another free license. Linux community is upset about rme to not giving some spec about the drivers to implements them on the linux os. Things seems to be very protected about drivers and softwares with RME.

May be one day we could expect that some specifications will be released by rme to the open source community that would help and make free somes drivers... One day perhaps ?

In my own thought, RME products got so much good harware that they could open the drivers sources to the community and by this fact will gain a real 'trespect' from a lot of users.

I'm developing a lot of programs with asio services since many years and get still frustated to be not able to do them on linux OS...

Best regards

This wasn't the question here. Different topic.

I am not a specialist with Reaper - maybe you should extend your request to not only show ASIO errors but also hard drive errors while recording. This works absolutely perfectly in DC and is the same standard programming, so that feature could be available in any program.
