Topic: Firewire Compatibility

In an article about USB 3.0, Audio Technology magazine (current issue, page 80) talks about the ongoing compatibility problems between various combinations of Firewire controller chips and Firewire audio interfaces.
The following quote might be of concern to Fireface 800/400 owners.

??the latest MacBooks have Agere Firewire controller chips that disagree with (among others) RME audio interfaces.?

Slightly outdated information... The latest MBPs (late 2009 or so) have the new and improved version of the Agere/LSI chip, which does not have the connectivity issue of the earlier one.

The latest Imacs use Texas Instruments based Firewire ports.
