Topic: ASIO is fine, but directsound playback is glitchy

I'm seeing audio cutting out every now and then when playing back something in windows media player.  I don't have the same issue with foobar playing back flac using the asio plug in.  Though foobar constantly forgets the asio speaker configuration for the Fireface USB.  My daw is fine as well.

There are no USB errors, so not sure why it's happening with directsound only?

Buffers too small. Checked DPC latency?

Buffer size doesn't make a difference, could set it to 2048 and it still happens.

DPC latency is <100

You increased the buffer size in Windows Media Player options?

It's not just windows media player, Zune software and iTunes they all exhibit the issue.  Anything that used directsound playback.
