Topic: volume control

After upgraded to 10.6 and 10.6.2  I can't control the volume of OUTPUT PHONES 7-8 using the volume control on my keyboard, but only AN 1+2.
Is there are setting somewhere that will modify which output is controlled?   
I am using Driver 2.64 and firmware is 1.69.

Doesn't that depend on which output you choose as standard in the Audio MIDI control panel?

thanks for the info. this isn't immediately obvious, and i passed some months unhappy about the update before coming across this post!
