Topic: Help on External Effect with Octamic 2

Hello there,

I am struggeling with External effect used as "insert" in Cubase .  I have Octamic 2 and a Multiface.

I have tried the following today and that works :
I want to add my  FUZZ pedal B: ASSMASTER as an insert effect.

1.  B: Asssmaster out to Multiface Line IN
2. Multiface Line out to DI box IN
3. DI Box out to B: ASSMASTER IN.
4. Create a Fx iwth Send and return on Multiface line 8

This works but the effect sound no way as great as when I use it the normal way ?

That is however not the problem.  AS Multiface is "OLD" and Octamic 2 is NEW with better converters etc.  It is the Octamic 2. So I want to use that.

The Octamic 2 is via ADAT to the multiface.

So I do the same as above jsut now I use the LIne in and out on the Octa mic.

I can see that there is a " signal"  But there is NO FUZZ. If I turn the " preamp" a " not healty SOUND" comes out of my monitors.   But I shoudl not youch the pre amp as I am using Jack and now it is the line level in and out.

But it does not work and I have been sitting ALL day :-( . I am gettting greay and old :-)

Can anyone of you clever guys give a hint ? .  Is my Octamic 2 broken since it works with the multiface but not with the Octamic 2 ?

Thanks very much and have a nice week

Regards

Michael

No One :-(

Re: Help on External Effect with Octamic 2

Have you considered that the Octamic only has AD conversion? There is no signal path back from ADAT to analog with this device.

Re: Help on External Effect with Octamic 2

Hi Michael,
What version of Cubase are you using?
The full Cubase 4 and 5 version have support for external effects within the program like they were VST effects.

If this is a guitar effect pedal then the analog I/O on the Muiltiface are more than enough.
Sense the Octamic s AD converter only it would not make sense to use it as one of the I/O for the pedal.

Thanks Chris
