Topic: 96K frame or not?

Hi,
I wonder wether the setting "96 K frame" has got an influence on my 88.2kHz setup:

Input chain is:

ADI 8 QS and ADI 8 DS via ADAT S/MUX -> ADI 648 (on stage)
-> via MADI optical
-> MADIface (control room)

Output chain is:

MADIface via MADI coax -> ADI8 QSM (control room)
-> MADI optical
-> ADI 648 via ADAT -> ADI8QS (on stage)

ADI 8 QSM in control room should serve as DA for surround monitoring as well as as AD for talkback to stage.

I keep all wordclock connections single speed. FS is 88.2kHz.

I haven't figured out yet: Does the setting "96 K frame" which is available in the output of the MADIface as well as in the output of the ADI 648 has got any influence on the signal flow? So far I couldn't find any functional differences between the two settings.

The ADI 8 QSM doesn't provide to switch this option, however I have got the impression that here the output follows the setting of the incoming signal, right?

Thanks for any advice,
Ulrich

Re: 96K frame or not?

No difference in signal flow. The QSM uses the i64 MADI card, which follows the input signal state automatically (QS manual page 32).

Re: 96K frame or not?

Thanks for your quick answer.

So I can deactivate all 96 K frames without harming my 88.2K setup?

When is it recommended to activate this setting?

Ulrich

Re: 96K frame or not?

When you want the sample rate to follow automatically from single to double and quad speed.
