Topic: ff400 - MIDI input not working

hi,

macbook pro & ff400. os x 10.5.8, latest Snow Leopard Drivers (I?m on leopard, but these drivers are the right ones according to rme site.)

I connect a doepfer pocket control to the MIDI in 1 or 2 on the fireface and no signal goes to ableton live, the in 1 (or in 2) led lights are on all the time.
this happens all the time now. a few hours I got MIDI in to work magically, but no it doesn?t work again.

I reinstalled the drivers, re-did the flash update.
the fireface is on ac power (not bus power).

everything worked great 2 weeks ago when I used it in the studio extensively (including MIDI).

I?d appreciate any idea what to try - a performance is coming up.

thanks!

Re: ff400 - MIDI input not working

so now I am on snow leopard, SL driver 2.66 (edit, made a mistake earlier), still no MIDI.

can I have an answer from rme this time please?

Re: ff400 - MIDI input not working

updated to the new 2.67 driver and reapplied the FUT to version 1.69 - no change.

Re: ff400 - MIDI input not working

When you said the LED lights are on all the time, does that mean that they are lit whether the control is connected or not?

Does this file exist on your computer?
/Library/Audio/MIDI Drivers/Fireface MIDI.plugin

Re: ff400 - MIDI input not working

thanks for the reply!

the midi plugin is where it should be.

the LED is on as soon as I connect a midi device.

Re: ff400 - MIDI input not working

Please use this free tool to check if MIDI is getting to the computer - if it shows data here then you have a problem in Ableton.

http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/

If no MIDI shows up in this app, do a manual driver removal per the link below, restart, empty trash, repair disk permissions, then install the driver again.

It is also possible that you have a bad or intermittent MIDI cable, or the MIDI breakout for the FF400 is defective.
