Topic: big isssue with the combo connector

http://img521.imageshack.us/img521/3743/tsjack.jpg

the TS jack above is locked into the combo, hence impossible to remove it any longer :censored
My FFUC is just 6 months servicing without an issue until then, when I had to connect that cable never used before on the UC

Somebody to help?

Re: big isssue with the combo connector

issue fixed

Opened the unit, then removed the upper PCB to access the combo from inside
Fortunately, its shell is opened at back allowing to unlock the jack using a very small screwdriver

The problem came from that low cost jack having a sharp back edge (tip) hence became stuck to the XLR/TRS combo counter tip pin, actually not smoothly shaped over its edge

Using Neutrik or quality like TRS jacks avoid the problem
Maybe a warning to add in the user's manual HeadScratch

Re: big isssue with the combo connector

Glad you got it fixed, Schubertriad, but a small semantic nitpick: "jack" should refer only to the chassis part, not to the cable end, which has a "plug". Admittedly, many folks mix those terms, but it made your description slightly harder to follow.

Re: big isssue with the combo connector

good to remind a correct semantic :-)

I wonder if that kind of TS (TRS) plug is shaped to avoid inadvertent disconnect while pulling on the cable HeadScratch
In such case, there should be some special jack flange receiver to match with, and maybe need to push again forward to unlock it

Maybe someone has experienced this around ?

Anyway my FFUC is back on service and I am glad again
By the way, a good opportunity to claim about the well engineered PCBs and mechanics here, with physical separation between analogue and digital sections and you know what .... the layers are all Blue! cool
